IN AWE OF NATURE
At FOUNDATION Ecology we
aim to inspire a sense of awe and a fascination for life on Earth. We are here
to help you develop an understanding of, and connection with, the species with
which we share this world. In doing so, we hope to trigger that innate desire
we all have to care for that which is close to us.
EMPOWERING PEOPLE
This is your journey of discovery, and we are here to help. We’ll show you how you can find the species, record them, and share your encounters with others. You need not travel far. Your own property is teeming with unseen life.
LOCAL COMMUNITY
We’ll connect you to the growing community of Citizen Scientists interested in the species all around us.
Our support network and community work together to bring the less frequently encountered species to your attention. We work to introduce you to the amazing complexity of the natural world.
Join our growing community on iNaturalist, an online social network of people sharing biodiversity information to help each other learn about nature. Here you can share your discoveries, marvel at what others have encountered, and create valuable records that help with research and conservation efforts.
EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES
With so many species around us, how can we get to know them all better? Our educational resources are a great place to start. Focusing entirely on species that occur right here in South Australia, we’ll break down the barriers to understanding so you can get to know even the tiniest species in detail.
Need a specific resource? We’ll work with you to put together something to meet your needs.
FAQ
We are based within the Greater Adelaide region of South Australia.
We provide bioblitz workshops across the Greater Adelaide region and down the Fleurieu Peninsula. We may be able to service other areas in SA upon request.
Discovering the amazing complexity of life around us can be personally rewarding. Beyond that benefit, by connecting with the community and recording and uploading your discoveries you’ll create species occurrence records. These records are synced with the Atlas of Living Australia, our national biodiversity database. These records support research, environmental monitoring, conservation planning, education, and biosecurity activities.
This is why we are here! We’ll break down the barriers and help you discover the incredible diversity of life around us. Our BioBlitz Workshops are adapted to suit the needs of each participant. Our educational resources cater to all levels of understanding. Our community of Citizen Scientists are all learning and discovering together. Everyone is welcome.
We do not limit ourselves to any particular group. If you’re area of interest is flowering plants, we’ve got you covered. Native terrestrial Orchids? Absolutely. However we do like to introduce you to the wonderful world of minibeasts and cryptogams. That is, the Insects, Spiders, and other arthropods, Mosses and Liverworts, Fungi and Lichens. We’ll help you discover worlds within worlds.
